What did you think of the first national leaders MacLean’s debate? You can watch the rerun here. Any thoughts on the two ‘missing in action’ Federal Party leaders, one by choice (Trudeau), and the other by exclusion (Bernier). I found it unfortunate that both national leaders from Quebec were absent.

My impression is that May and Singh tended to rant, particularly against each other. I find it painful and rude when leaders do not allow each other to talk. One of the most interesting moments was when Singh accused May of not being pro-abortion enough, and therefore against women’s rights. Scheer seemed stronger and more statesmanlike. When silenced by May or Singh’s occasional ranting, Scheer calmly faced the TV screen and repeated the phrase or sentence that had been drowned out. The scripture verse that came to mind was “Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing. Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here’s what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you’re worth. God looks on all this with approval, listening and responding well to what he’s asked; But he turns his back on those who do evil things.”
