It is refreshing to read a Canadian author with a great breadth of interdenominational experience and a deep love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Roger Helland is a consummate story-teller who holds one’s attention through his extensive chapters. The title Pursuing God’s Presence accurately names what this book is about, and what motivated Roger to write this book. I highly commend this book to others, as it has a contagious feel to it, inspiring me and hopefully many others to more fervently seek the Lord’s presence in Canada.

Roger Helland exhibits in his book The Devout Life a consistent passion for renewal of the Inner Life, flowing over to the outer life. Pietism is not well understood nowadays by many, even including those with pietist denominational heritage. Reading The Devout Life has strengthened my conviction that God is wanting to fan into flame a personal fire in each of us that will play a part in coming revivals. I highly recommend this book as a tool for personal and corporate renewal.
