The Apostle Paul tells us that we have a spiritual adversary: “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” St. Peter tells us that our spiritual enemy the devil “prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” There is no doubt that the world is embroiled in a spiritual battle. The devil comes to “kill, steal and destroy.” If we embrace this understanding of the world, what we witness every day makes a lot of sense. God has allowed the devil and his demons to roam the world to wreak havoc and chaos. Through this course of events, God calls people to Himself. He offers salvation for all who are “drowning.” We also learn from Scripture, that although the enemy can tempt Christians, he cannot harm them because God has promised to care for His own children. This week, as we study the Book of the Revelation, we’re going to learn about the nature of the spiritual war we are involved in. We thank God we’re on His side!
