This book gave me more than I expected. I had heard about some of the life stories of those written about in this book, but Ed and Janice Hird let me in on some of the untold tidbits of their lives that reminded me that they were just ordinary people who God used extraordinarily. In fact, these stories gave me hope that God could and would use me as well, even if being an instrument in His hand brings pain and suffering in my life.

We don’t live for today, we live for an eternity with our King Jesus. This book was an encouragement for me to “finish well”.

Thank you Ed and Janice for sharing your extensive research about the rise of many evangelicals pastors, theologians, and missionaries with us. It certainly kindles my heart to sharing the gospel and training others to become God’s Firestarter. I enjoyed this book very much!

Rev. Philip Der.

Thank you very much indeed dear Br. Hird for your latest publication: God’s Firestarters .

I was able to read on my iPad.

Your labour of love and holy intend is very commendable .

I look at Revival as follows :

Lord Himself is the Author of any Revival .

His chosen ones are instruments or channels in His hands operated by Him through His Spirit’s power in His sovereignty as He pleases for any Revival .

Recipients of the blessings of any Revival could be His own people to fulfill His purposes for building up in the most Holy faith and through them the blessings of the gospel to reach the precious souls in the world .

My prayer is that it may please the Lord to employ your book in His will and wisdom to accomplish His purposes at a time such as this .

With greetings in the Lord and in prayer .

The narrative of Blue Sky reads like a true story. A loving Christian family endures a series of setbacks but due to their faith, they are able to work toward a resolution . This easy-to-read story inspires faith.

Enjoying the beauty of Crescent Beach with our walking group on the 7th day of Christmas.

This Sunday we celebrated the Fourth Sunday of Advent. It’s a special traditional service called “9 Lessons and Carols.” We lighted the Advent candle of Joy and we read and sang together to tell the story of our Saviour. This year, many of our new church family participated in the service.

Praise the Lord!” 9 Lessons and Carols” is a wonderful service in which friends and family can easily participate. Why not invite them next Sunday morning? I also concluded my 4 week series on the Foundations of the Faith. And as a special treat after the service, we served warm fruit mince tarts and hot spiced apple juice.

We look forward to seeing you next Sunday morning . What a privilege it is to gather with the saints to worship the God-man who came to earth as a little baby! (In case you missed it, here is the recording of our service from last Sunday, the 12th December 2021. You can find the service by clicking HERE.)

Don’t forget our Prayer and Fasting vigil every night at the church at 7:00pm. We’re going to pray and fast until God tells us to stop. You are welcome to join us any night at the church for prayer.

Finally, can I also ask you to continue to pray for Project Oikos—our strategy for paying off our building. Christmas is a time when people make generous donations to the church. Please pray that our friends and neighbours will be generous this season. (If you’d like further information about Project Oikos, don’t hesitate to call me.)

Thanks Church.Stay vigilant and prayerful. Love each other and keep Jesus at the centre of everything you do.Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or needs. Lord willing, I’ll see you soon. Blessings on all you do.

The peace of our Lord,

Here is Sally Start’s Amazon book review for our new God’s Firestarters book. Amazon USA or Amazon Canada
“What an inspirational read! In “God’s Firestarters” my friends, Rev Ed and Janice Hird, have highlighted 20 laid-down lives that God used to fuel revival over the last few hundred years. It is fascinating to learn more details about these godly, yet quite ordinary, men and women, so many of whom have been a personal influence on me in my journey as a Christian.
I commend this book to you as an encouragement to pray for revival in our midst. I was stopped in my tracks to read ‘Out of the ashes of the failed hippy dream emerged the unexpected Jesus Movement’ – a genuine revival of 2 – 3 million – larger than The Great Awakenings. This has encouraged me to redouble my prayers for the self-declared ‘spiritual but not religious’ Millenials. May they encounter Jesus at their festivals! Come Holy Spirit! Awaken hearts! Start another fire we pray.” —Sally Start, former National Alpha Canada Ambassador & Co-ordinator.
