Restoring Health: body, mind and spirit

At the end of October we are reminded that the world around us is immersed in spirituality. First, our culture celebrates “halloween” and then it celebrates “Christmas.” The interesting point here is that the world understands the truth about halloween but has a total misconception about Christmas. Our society celebrates halloween with symbols of “trick or treat”, death and mortality, and scary symbols designed to frighten us. I don’t know if you’ve thought about it, but these are exactly the characteristics of the devil. He came to “kill, steal, and destroy.” His whole purpose is to instil fear into people—which is exactly the opposite to faith. Meanwhile, the culture has no idea about Christmas. It celebrates santa, reindeer, sleigh rides and silver bells, all of which have nothing to do with the true meaning of Christmas. This is not a coincidence! This week the Rev. Dr. Canon Ed Hird is going to expose this discrepancy in a sermon from the book of Isaiah entitled, “No Longer Deserted at Halloween.” And don’t forget, this Sunday after church we’re having lunch. Why not bring some food to share with your Church family. (Remember that we have no heating or cooling facilities until our renovations are complete.) Everyone is welcome! This Sunday is also Operation Christmas Child Shoebox day. Come and pick up a shoebox or two, fill them with Christmas gifts for children from around the world and then return them by Sunday the 15th November. And finally, don’t forget our Christian Foundations course at 2:30pm every Sunday at the church. A great opportunity to learn why you believe what you believe. A full Sunday this week…

So come, join us as we worship the triune God together. Here’s the announcement:
