Could there be a better way to reduce opioid deaths in BC?

‘Without a regulated supply, everyone just dies’: Parade marks 7th year of toxic drug crisis – Peace Arch News

Dear PAN Editor,
We hear a lot lately about an attempt to reduce opioid deaths in BC through more government-funded ‘safe supply’ of free hard drugs, and through drug-friendly housing. Sadly, this policy is not producing the desired results, as things are getting worse in BC, not better.
When might we be willing to learn from Alberta’s successes in drug treatment and recovery? We hear little if anything in the BC media about how Alberta has reduced the opioid death rate by half while BC’s opioid death is now double the Alberta rate per capita. Genuine compassion requires genuine solutions.
